UHY LLP and Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC dusted off the equipment, sharpened the skates and pulled out the old sweaters to take on Talmer Bank & Trust in the fourth annual charity hockey game at Oak Park Ice Arena.
The teams raised nearly $2,500 for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan. “It was another extremely successful effort by three community-driven companies, as we put on another charity hockey game to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan. Oak Park Ice Arena again, donated the ice time and the players, staff, family and friends of UHY, Howard & Howard and Talmer Bank all chipped in. Thanks to all!,” said Dennis Gistinger, team captain and Talmer managing director, business development officer, commercial banking of Southeastern Michigan.
UHY LLP and Howard & Howard defeated Talmer Bank by a score of 6-2. Most importantly, a donation was made to a great cause and there were no injuries. Getting in on the act was Brad Southern, long-time participant and captain from UHY, with a goal and some great plays at the blue line. “Hockey is such a great tradition in this area. This marks our fourth charity hockey game in which professionals from three professional service companies get out on the ice and raise awareness and funds for outstanding charitable causes. For 2016 we raised over $2,000 for the Boys and Girls Club and over $8,000 to various charities since starting in 2011,” said Southern, business valuation principal of UHY Advisors. Southern is also heavily involved in the firm’s health and fitness programs for employees.
Since 1926, Boys and Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan has provided high quality youth development programs, sporting activities, events and a safe haven for children from all walks of life.
