UHY LLP (“UHY”), the fifth largest accounting firm in Southeast Michigan, will host their annual company picnic at Jimmy John’s Field on July 22 during Rockin’ 4 Hunger’s ‘Strike Out Hunger’ night. Employees and their guests are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item. Proceeds from the game will benefit Macomb Feeding the Need and UHY will also make a monetary donation.
In addition to the game day contributions, employees cleaned out their desks and snack drawers the week leading up to the picnic as part of an office-wide competition to see who could donate the most food. These collected items will go towards Rockin’ 4 Hunger’s effort of relieving hunger in metro Detroit. As part of a summer giving campaign focusing on hunger and homelessness, the firm is also participating in the Gleaners Hunger Free Summer Food Fight. Last year they won first place in their category.
“This is a great opportunity for our team to enjoy a night out at the ballpark as a small token of gratitude for their hard work throughout the year”, said Tom Callan, CEO, UHY Advisors Michigan, Inc. “By simply showing up and being a part of the picnic festivities, employees and their families help organizations working to rid the metro Detroit area of a huge problem. Charitable giving and community outreach is a high priority at all levels within the firm, it’s engrained in our culture. Employees continue to step up and get involved, volunteer or bring new ideas to the table.”
Rockin’ 4 Hunger is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers working year round to raise funds for local food charities through concerts and events. Macomb Feeding the Need started in 2010 to feed the needs of the community, mind, body, soul and spirit. The organization started with a lunch, which quickly grew to breakfast, lunch and a hot meal to go.
