UHY International (“UHYI”), a worldwide network of independent professional services firms that provide audit, tax and advisory services around the globe, gathered their leadership in Detroit, Michigan from Wednesday, October 24 through Friday, October 26 for the 2018 annual meeting of international members. The meeting was the largest gathering of UHY International partners in history with representatives from nearly 100 countries coming together to discuss developments in the marketplace, exchange ideas, experience the economic revitalization in Detroit and network in iconic American venues such as the Henry Ford Museum and the Detroit Institute of Arts.
“UHYI’s meeting this year highlighted our firm’s global growth and reach while reflecting the local community roots and values of our firm,” said Rick David, chief operating officer of UHY Advisors, a founding member firm of UHYI with offices throughout the United States. “It was a chance for our partners to discuss the rapidly changing nature of our business and accounting space while celebrating our firm’s history and potential.”
Guests included Samuel Abuelsamid, senior analyst at Navigant Research’s Mobility Research Service, Ron Quaranta, chairman of the Wall Street Blockchain Alliance, Tom McMakin, CEO and Partner of Profitable Ideas Exchange and author of “How Clients Buy”, Barry Melancon, president and CEO of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants and other industry-renowned C-suite executives and business leaders.
Previous international meetings have been held in Brussels, London, Munich, Paris and Singapore, to name a few.
“Combining our UHY International meeting with the National Leadership Conference in Detroit was a great opportunity for both our partners and local businesses” said Tony Frabotta, chief executive officer of UHY Advisors. “Hosting these meetings in tandem in Detroit, the Motor (and Comeback) City, was a chance for our colleagues from a diverse array of backgrounds to discuss the latest strategies and tools in our business, as well as enjoy the rich history of Detroit.”
Delegates also took advantage of a networking evening with international enterprises based in the Detroit area, which enabled partners to learn directly from these executives on how pioneering and entrepreneurial businesses are thriving in Detroit.
UHYI colleagues also socialized at local cultural attractions including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Motown Museum, and the Henry Ford Museum — venues that highlighted the entrepreneurial and innovative history of the city of Detroit, the state of Michigan and the United States.
