Economic Advisory Services

Our Economic Advisory Services practice provides customized professional services for businesses, attorneys, and organizations who wish an open and transparent working style from their economic advisors.

We pride ourselves on sound, rigorous economic analyses that withstand the highest level of scrutiny by judges, juries, the DOJ, SEC, IRS, State Comptrollers, and management of large publicly traded clients.

Much of our work is in the capacity of expert witnesses in lawsuits, which has honed our ability to defend our opinions, and the inputs and assumptions that support our conclusions. Clients tell us our work product and our ability to clearly analyze and interpret the relevant data facilitates simplification of matters to the greatest extent possible.

Sample Matters

  • Reviewed pooling and servicing agreements, trust agreements and loan files to evaluate potential losses in sub-prime mortgage-backed securities.
  • Examined portfolio of reverse-mortgages to evaluate claim of usury and predatory lending practices.
  • Evaluated residual claimholder’s potential recovery in a case involving allegations of improper underwriting standards in mortgage-backed securities.
  • Calculated damages from insurance cancellation related to collateralized subprime automobile loans.
  • Developed and implemented complex models to calculate damages to class members in ERISA litigation related to claims arising from the concentration of retirement funds in company stock. Based in part on our work, the Court certified the class and settlement was reached before trial.
  • Provided economic analysis on behalf of a major health insurance company to illustrate that the proposed class of all doctors in a state submitting claims to the health insurance company had disparate economic interests not considered by the plaintiffs and their proposed damage model. The Court divided the proposed class into sub-classes to address these different interests.
