MUNICIPALITIES STRUGGLE WITH OPEN MEETINGS AS CORONAVIRUS SPREADS

As COVID-19 spreads across the nation, school boards, county commissions and city councils have struggled with how to handle public meetings when that would mean putting citizens in danger. Some municipalities have elected to continue to hold the meetings and advising the public to stay away, others have enacted emergency powers, giving leaders broad authority during the crisis.
