Small businesses impacted by recent COVID-19 emergency orders can begin applying for $55 million in Michigan Small Business Survival grants through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation tomorrow, January 19 at 9:00am EST. An electronic queue system will once again be used, with businesses entering the queue prior to entry into the application. Businesses will be able to sign up to receive a notification upon reaching the front of the queue, with 15 minutes to start the application after being notified. Visit: to apply.

Details on the available grants below:

Small Business Survival Grants will be administered by 15 Economic Development Organizations covering all 83 counties - $55 million in funding.

  • Businesses that have been fully closed may apply for grants up to $20,000
  • Businesses partially closed may apply for grants up to $15,000
  • Grants must be used for working capital – payroll, rent, mortgage, utilities, and costs related to reopening a business
  • Funds can be used for expenditures between November 18, 2020 and April 30, 2021
  • Funds disbursed between January 29 – February 28
  • A full list of recipients will be posted

Michigan Stages Survival Grant program also approved to offer relief to live music and event venues statewide - $3.5 million in funding.

  • Maximum grant is $40,000 with no match requirement
  • All grant recommendations will be decided by February 28th
  • Funds will be issued by EFT
