On March 11th, Maryland announced they are extending the state income tax filing deadline to July 15, 2021. No interest or penalties will be charged if the taxes are filed and paid by this new date.
Due to the recent changes in state and federal law to help taxpayers hurt by the pandemic, Maryland has been revising numerous tax forms and needs additional time. The extended deadline applies to individual, pass-through, fiduciary and corporate income tax returns. In addition, first and second quarter tax estimate payments for the 2021 tax year are extended to July 15.
Currently, the Internal Revenue Service is planning to keep the April 15 Federal filing and payment deadline.
