The M&A Advisor annual Emerging Leader awards recognize and celebrate the achievements of the next generation of M&A, Financing and Turnaround professionals, whose significant level of success establishes them as the industry's emerging leaders. Manager Humza Mahmood was chosen from a pool of prominent nominees for his notable accomplishments in business and in service to the larger New York business community.
Humza is an accounting manager with over five years of experience providing audit, attest, and transaction services to companies in a variety of industries. He has extensive experience supporting buy- and sell-side deal negotiations with a strong technical background in GAAP compliance and revenue recognition. Additionally, he completes financial statement audits, reviews and compilations, and business advisory services for private companies.
Humza is known for his attention for detail in the preparation and negotiation stages of the deal process. He turns into a financial detective that can quickly track down errors in financials to reconcile supporting information and bring issues to the seller’s attention before they sit down with the buyer. As part of that, Humza also serves as a problem solver that rectifies an issue or finds alternate support for the purchase price. He often goes back to the company’s beginning to ensure the finances are accurate and support the seller’s position prior to negotiations.
Outside of the office, Humza remains in close contact with the M&A world, serving on the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Forward committee, which is dedicated to younger M&A professionals. He was appointed to the role after attending events for the organization for several years, and he now leverages that experience to create opportunities for new and upcoming professionals to connect with mentors and clients. Humza has also pushed for greater learning and professional events in the coming year, as a means of educating his peers and keeping pace with the regulatory and accounting changes.
