Senior Manager Recognized as 2023 M&A Advisor Emerging Leader

2 Min Read

The M&A Advisor annual Emerging Leader awards recognize and celebrate the achievements of the next generation of M&A, Financing and Turnaround professionals, whose significant level of success establishes them as the industry's emerging leaders. Senior Manager Fiona Li was chosen from a pool of prominent nominees for her notable accomplishments in business and in service to the larger New York business community.

Fiona is a versatile professional who truly understands the international stage when it comes to both due diligence and audit. She seamlessly leverages her global experience to provide insight to clients on where the most issues arise and how to best mitigate them. She excels at cross-border transactions with companies in China due to her native proficiency with the language and navigates cultural differences to create a smooth business exchange with the United States.

Her significant experience includes public accounting, including performing audits on China-based companies publicly listed in the U.S. and U.S. subsidiaries of Chinese parent companies. She also has experience in financial due diligence and internal control consulting and is familiar with both U.S. GAAP and China GAAP. Fiona has an extensive technical background and addresses the complex matters integrated into international transactions, including transfer pricing concerns, revenue recognition, complex equity transactions, and the transition between US and Chinese GAAP. In addition, she is able to take on any role during a transaction, from quality of earnings preparation to financial statement review, and does so to keep the requested timelines for clients.

Fiona became involved with a local church community that works with Asian immigrants settling in the U.S. The church as a whole works on a volunteer network dedicated to supporting new immigrants in finding jobs and navigating U.S. culture. Her mother teaches English in China, and Fiona uses those techniques and lessons to help new immigrants learn English from a native Chinese speaker and leverages her own experiences on how to navigate the U.S. to find jobs and success. The classes are hosted by the church several times a month, and Fiona is one of several teachers who rotate through.
