Comptroller Peter Franchot announced today that Maryland individual taxpayers who pay estimated quarterly taxes have until Friday, July 15, 2022, to pay the first and second quarters of tax year 2022.
The extension only applies to individuals, not pass-through-entities or corporate estimated tax filers.
This extension of individual estimated taxes aligns with Maryland’s announcement last month extending the individual income tax year 2021 filing and final payment date by three months for Maryland state income taxes to July 15, 2022.
The Internal Revenue Service, which already has warned of processing delays for the 2022 tax season due to COVID, has not indicated any plans to extend the federal income tax filing and payment deadline beyond April 18.
