After months of backlash, Stellantis has officially rescinded the terms and conditions it had forced on suppliers at the beginning of 2022. In a letter to suppliers, Stellantis said it will revert back to the 2021 terms and conditions. They explained that “as we’ve worked through this process and have heard your feedback, we understand that each region has unique attributes related to the business in that region, and that those attributes cannot be ignored.”
The 2022 terms and conditions could have forced North American suppliers to reduce prices whenever they achieve any cost savings. Stellantis new terms and conditions were delivered at a time suppliers were already facing significant headwinds with inflation, chip shortage, supply chain disruption and labor shortages.
The Stellantis letter closed with its promise to “align with our supply base and aim for continued success for our respective organizations.” Thomas Alongi, UHY’s manufacturing leader, commented, “We are glad to see Stellantis recognize the hardships the supply base is enduring, and are hopeful they will take a more collaborative and individual company approach to working with suppliers on terms and conditions.”
