Michigan Department of Treasury Delays Implementation of Paymentus

2 Min Read

The Michigan Department of Treasury has delayed the transition of the Michigan Treasury Online (MTO) electronic payment system to Paymentus due to issues during final testing. Taxpayers who use the current MTO platform, PayConnexion, will still be able to do so, but only for next-day payments before 8:00 PM daily. Future payments will not be available.

Paymentus updates may not impact everyone. For those who do not plan to make electronic business tax payments through MTO, this message does not apply. MTO users who pay electronically through a checking or savings account with an ACH debit block need to ensure both company IDs for MTO are active with their financial institution. The IDs are 9037133001 (PayConnexion) and 0000408976 (Paymentus).

The new go-live date for Paymentus is still to be determined, but users will be notified when more information is available. Paymentus improves on existing features and includes a more intuitive design and new services that were not previously available. Users will now be able to:

  • Make same day payments (as long as they are made before 8:00 PM)
  • Schedule future payments up to one year in advance
  • Have their payment information saved automatically through My Wallet

Despite the new updates, users will use the same personal and unique username and password to access all MTO services, including payments. MTO access pathways (File and Pay a Tax Return, Make a Payment, and Fast Pay) will remain intact and look and function the exact same as they currently do. MTO will remain easy to use and will have an added layer of security for your personal information.

If you experience technical issues with payments in the near future, please contact the Business Taxes Customer Contact Center at (517) 636-6925.
