Charles Bruno Named LIBN 2022 Business and Finance Professional Honoree

2 Min Read

Long Island Business News released their 2022 Business & Finance honorees, and on that list was UHY's own Charles Bruno. Charles, a principal in the Long Island office, was highlighted as one of 16 leading financial experts whose exemplary performance has made a difference in the Long Island community, both professionally and through community service, nonprofit work, and philanthropy.

With two decades of experience in a variety of external audit, general accounting, corporate reporting and internal audit roles, Charles has become one of the foremost internal audit resources in the Northeast region due to his technical background and adaptive approach to engagements. Despite joining UHY less than a year ago as a senior manager, Charles has distinguished himself both on a professional and personal level among his peers and was promoted to Principal. In addition, Charles is an avid mentor to junior staff and interns, with the belief that engaging and growing a professional from the bottom can be as valuable as hiring someone with the right experience. In an age where many engagements are completed partially or completely in a remote environment, Charles specifically pulls his juniors and interns aside when he’s addressing parts of the engagement that may be unfamiliar or new in order to field questions and demonstrate how to accomplish the various processes.

Charles is an active member of the Masonic Toys for Tots Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for research, education, and treatment of children suffering from severe blood disorders. The organization partners with New York Presbyterian, Weill-Cornell Medical College and The Children’s & Cancer Blood Foundation to contribute to events for children and support life-saving blood transfusions. Charles serves as Treasurer for the Foundation, as a fundraiser and as an advocate for the cause, spending his time outside of work raising awareness for the children and their diseases.
