QuickBooks Desktop Products No Longer Available to New U.S. Subscribers after July 31

QuickBooks Desktop Products No Longer Available to New U.S. Subscribers after July 31

Intuit, makers of QuickBooks Desktop and other accounting software solutions, has announced that they will no longer be selling several QuickBooks Desktop Products to new U.S. subscribers starting July 31, 2024. The software giant has stressed that the stop-sell will not impact existing subscribers.

The following products will no longer be available to new subscribers after the July 31 deadline:

  • QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll

New QuickBooks Desktop product subscriptions will be available before July 31, 2024, and Intuit shared that the stop-sell for NEW purchases is not an indication of a discontinuation of the product line.

The stop-sell provides a great opportunity to explore other cloud-based solutions like Sage Intacct or another software you may not have previously considered.

Transitioning from dated versions of QuickBooks Desktop

Along with the announcement of the stop sell, Intuit distributed notices to users of QuickBooks Desktop 2021 and older explaining that the software would no longer be supported as of May 31. Those who wish to upgrade to a newer “Plus” version of QuickBooks Desktop must upgrade before July 31 and should begin to plan to transition to a newer version (2022 and forward) or seek other solutions. The Plus version (2022 and forward) will be supported beyond the July 31 deadline and is subscription-based.

Existing QuickBooks Desktop Plus and Payroll subscribers (2022 and forward) can renew their subscriptions after July 31. The stop-sale does not impact Enterprise products and those will be available anytime.

Protect your business

It is critical to keep your business on a supported version of QuickBooks desktop to retain access to live technical support and any other add-on features. Unsupported versions will stop receiving security patches and infrastructure updates as of June 1, 2024. With the transition and the push toward subscription-based services, bad actors will seize the opportunity to sell “multi-year licenses” or discounted versions, and we recommend that you work directly with our Client Accounting Advisory Services (CAAS) specialists or purchase directly from Intuit.
