UHY announces it is expanding its already significant presence in Michigan by joining with accounting firm, Jansen Valk Thompson Reahm PC (JVTR). The combination of firms, effective October 25, 2022, adds 32 team members and two Michigan offices—one in Kalamazoo and the other in Dowagiac.
JVTR has been operating since 1994 as one of Michigan’s leading firms serving individuals, families, trusts, public corporations, private companies and non-profit organizations. JVTR has been known for its three original fundamentals—exceptional service, quality work, and unparalleled career growth opportunities for their team members.
Regarding the combination, Jim Valk, Managing Partner of JVTR commented, “We are very excited to join UHY. Our firm has enjoyed significant growth over the past 28 years because of our talented team and wonderful clients. Joining UHY allows us to provide expanded services and resources to better serve our clients and additional opportunities for our employees. There is great chemistry between the two firms and a strong alignment and vision for the future.”
The Kalamazoo and Dowagiac offices will join UHY’s Great Lakes Region, which is the 5th largest accounting firm in Southeast Michigan with more than 550 employees located in five offices in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Farmington Hills, Port Huron, and Sterling Heights. UHY has been voted by the Michigan Business & Professional Association as Metro Detroit’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® - for the 19th year in a row.
“UHY’s Great Lakes Region is growing rapidly,” says Tom Callan, Great Lakes Regional Managing Partner for UHY. “We’re thrilled to join together with JVTR as they are truly an exceptional firm with deep industry experience and a reputation of excellence and distinction,” Callan explains.
UHY is the 29th largest accounting firm in the U.S. with 27 offices and more than 1,400 team members. UHY has combined with a number of firms this year, including LWBJ and TGM in January and Stoy Malone in May. Additional mergers for UHY are being finalized and will be announced in the coming months.
“UHY is thrilled to add a presence in West Michigan and have aligned with such an exceptional firm,” says Scott Miller, UHY Managing Director, who was instrumental in the merger. “UHY’s strategic plan includes continued expansion within our existing markets as well as targeted new markets throughout the country.”
