John Ferro Named Crain's NY Notable Leader in Accounting & Consulting

Every year, Crain's NY puts out a call for their Notable Leaders in Accounting and Consulting list, consisting of the top New York City professionals who represent success both in their professional and community worlds. This year's 64 honorees are leading the charge to help their firms and clients master the challenges facing them while contributing their time and energy to community, cultural, educational and philanthropic activities that make this vibrant region and even better place to work and live.

Among them is UHY's John Ferro, managing director for the Business Valuation practice and leader of the Center for Shareholder Resolutions. He founded the Center one year ago and has built a team to mediate for company shareholders in valuation, accounting and tax disputes that require an impartial professional to identify paths to resolution. Ferro also supports the Transaction Services practice, providing valuation and fairness opinions on complex transaction structures. Additionally, he has served on several committees of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, including the Business Valuation Committee, National Accreditation Committee, and Private Equity/Venture Capital Valuation Task Force.

Outside of the professional setting, Ferro founded and currently coaches a community-based swimming team for children that serves as a noncompetitive introduction to swimming and water safety. The all-inclusive program has included approximately 250 children, first through twelfth grade, that have gone on to receive college scholarships and serve as community lifeguards.
