MARILYN PENDERGAST

With more than forty years of comprehensive client experience in numerous industries, Marilyn Pendergast is an active member of the firm’s national Attest Practice Leaders Group, Education/Not-For-Profit Group, and the Government Services Practice Group. She also chairs the UHY LLP Independence Senior Leadership Team.

Marilyn has extensive experience with the trends and issues of accounting and auditing in the public and private sectors. She served on IFAC’s Transnational Audit Committee, which plays a major role in encouraging member firms to meet high standards with their international client audits, and on Ethics Committee for ten years, of which she was Chair for six, and oversaw complete restructuring of the Code of Ethics, including auditor independence, to adopt a principles-based approach, which is now being accepted globally.

Marilyn has facilitated various member points of view and interests to successfully build consensus behind an agreed-upon code. She has presented on topics related to independence issues in various countries, including Columbia, Korea, Philippines, Hong Kong, Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom, and she’s published numerous articles in professional accounting and business journals. Marilyn is also a sought-after speaker on a variety of auditing and accounting issues, and is the recipient of numerous awards.
