Background
Edward Plawecki is an active member of the Consulting Department and is a leading member of the firm’s National Government Practice. Ed has significant knowledge of corporate, international, municipal, and governmental law. A skilled advisor in the areas of litigation, risk management, bankruptcy, mergers and acquisitions, and alternative dispute resolution practices, Ed’s experience encompasses a wide range of advisory services to business entities surrounding the implementation of buy/sell agreements, business transactions, and turnaround and restructuring activities in both the private and public sector. He recently served as an advisor and consultant to several major financially distressed local governmental entities for various restructuring, service consolidation, deficit reduction, activities, and strategies. Prior to joining the firm in 2013, Ed served in the position of General Counsel and Director of Government Relations for various major corporations for more than twenty years.
Ed frequently lectures and presents continuing education seminars on the subjects of arbitration, bankruptcy, business turnaround, and restructuring issues for both the public and private sectors, as well as corporate fraud, ADR, international law, and governmental regulatory matters. He is a past recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for Labor Law and former adjunct professor at University of Michigan Graduate Studies in Public Administration and Davenport University.
